Sound On Sound (SOS) Fest returns November 10-12 to the expansive 23-acre Sherwood Forest in McDade, Texas this year with some stellar, heavy-hitting artists. On Vinyl’s favorite production company, Margin Walker Presents, is bringing back the festival for an even bigger and better experience that starts with their power lineup and ends with their curation of vendors and sponsors.
UPDATE (04/29/16: Check out the most recent list of re-bookings with details on locations, times, and bands here.)
Severe storm forecasts have forced Levitation (formerly known as Austin Psych Fest) to shut down because of public safety concerns. Levitation was slated to take place from April 29 to May 1 and was located at Carson Creek Ranch, a popular outdoor venue.
With only days left until Austin’s largest showcase of experimental music, underground music lovers are growing tired of their a music festival hiatus.
In celebration of today, I’ve decided to put together a playlist to help everyone have the most enjoyable 4/20 possible. Wether your plans are too vegetate with your friends or go to the greenbelt, this local music playlist will set you up with the right vibes to get you lifted. Ranging from reggae to psych rock, you’ll have just enough complexity with in the chillness to keep your mind in the perfect mindset for the perfect day.
A wave of haunting voices washed over by the sound of sonic instrumentals. A blast from the past of psychedelic music. This is what Holy Wave brings to your mind as you float along their sick melodies and soft undertones.
April Fool’s gone and so is every other cool holiday. Spring break is passed. Easter’s over. The only (minor) respite I’ll have for what seems like an eternity is the fleeting, brief release that is Summer Break, but even then I’ll have to get another job to make sure I can afford to live here in Austin. Thanks, Obama.
Prior to the beginning of this sentence, I was unaware that Levitation Fest was a thing. I was also unaware that pysch rock bands still thrive enough to warrant a festival. Well, I’m glad I got the memo. Because this festival is going to be, uhm, groovy? Anyway, here’s some local bands that will be getting wavy at Levitation (April 29–May 1) this year.
