Weekly Staff Picks: Second Semester Playlist

The second semester is in full swing, and I’m already needing some music therapy. Here’s a playlist that’s far cheaper and groovier than any therapist on the market. After seeing Stiletto Feels at Cheer Up Charlies, they have quickly become one of my favorite Austin bands. Here is “Blessed City” the first track off their debut album The Big Fist. Speaking of killer debut albums, “Youth is Breaking” off of BUHU‘s debut album Relationships has already accumulated over 10,000 plays in 15 days.

One man band Henry + The Invisibles loops funk guitar, bass and soulful keyboards. Here’s “My Love is 4 U,” a dance floor killer, off of Henry’s EP onemanphunkband. Henry is followed by Austin bands Löwin, Wonderbitch and Spoon. I recently saw Good Talk live and was insanely impressed with their musicianship. “Half Asleep” is a good representation of their alternative punk sound, but you should also check this out. Bringing up the rear of this playlist is Ghostbunny, Geography and Zettajoule.
