OV Exclusive [AUDIO]: Feeling the energy of the capitol city with Joyce Manor

Austin is a punk haven for artists in all places, but where else but to start at the Mohawk, one of Austin’s premiere venues that has been host to a myriad of punk artists over the years. Luckily, as Red River faces a sharp decline in venues, the Mohawk has stood against the rising tides of rent and red tape. I have seen many shows here, and tonight’s show was an experience that is difficult to put into words; however, seeing as it’s my job, I’m gonna do the best I can.

This week’s culmination of songs is a post-rock aural journey, dripping with psychedelic overtones and overdriven guitars from the likes of Ghostbunny‘s “Static Love” and Hunter Jones‘s “Laurel.” For those who would trade the psychedelic trip for a mosh pit, Otis the Destroyer and The Bravo hold it down with two biggest rock anthems of the playlist, “Goldfame” and “Everybody Needs a Friend.
